At the party that evening, Jorge begins dancing with Rosario, and Pedro with María (Jorge’s sister). Jorge and Pedro explain to Rosario and María that they should all elope to Mexico City. The father-in-law arrives and is about to spill the beans so they lock him in a room. The doctor arrives and they make him leave with a cock-and-bull story about the ‘mayordomo’ falling ill and requiring urgent medical treatment.

He first of all goes to the Department of Lost People, but just finds a man sweeping paper in empty rooms. He then goes to a Brazilian ‘santería’ religious ceremony; and a medium speaks to him in Eurydice’s voice, but he loses her by turning around. Orfeu then goes to the morgue, collects her body, and returns to the ‘Morros’. Mira throws a stone at Orfeu, hitting him on the head, and knocks him off the cliff, killing him. The final scene of the film shows a young girl dancing to music played by the two young boys, Benedito and Zeca.
